Pumpkin Carving

I had not been feeling well for a few days this week, so I waited until last night to finally carve my pumpkin. I was sad though, cause it is tradition to watch It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown afterwards, but I only have it on VHS and there was something wrong with our VCR. I will for sure have to get it on DVD now. My pumpkin was suppose to be a ghost, but it doesn't look like one, I don't know what it looks like really, maybe and owl with a big nose? I'm roasting the seeds as I type this, and can't wait to be eating them sitting at my desk at work later...yummy!! Jess will be bringing the kids over for trick or treating tonight, and I can't wait to see them in their costumes.

Before

Getting some help with the fine details....

Gotta always find a reason to get an upclose shot, cause that's what I do.....

Me with my shoulda been a ghost, looks like an owl with a big nose pumpkin.....

Druid Books Found!

I was browsing our downtown used bookstore today, and ran across two books that have been on my list of books to get. I was sooooo excited, well, I still am excited! The first book 'Ritual' is by Emma Restall Orr, one of my favorite authors. The other one 'DruidCraft' is written by Philip Carr-Gomm who also did my Druid Animal Oracle cards and my DruidCraft Tarot. Can't wait to dig in and start reading!

Pumpkin Patch

Today we finally made it to the pumpking patch. There are a TON of pictures, I was going to do it in parts, but figured it would turn out the same anyways, so just going to do one long picture post. We all met at the front enterance, five families total. We were a big posse...ha, ha. I dressed for the cold, but it was HOT, I was sweatin big time within 5 minutes. I had so much fun today. It was great hanging out with everyone, and of course it was a perfect day being surrounded by so many pumpkins, a cute cow, pigs, sheep, eating curly fries and buying some apple cider donuts.

John, Kim, Heather, my niece Cassidy, my mom and nephew Dominic (there were two Dominics in the posse)

Adriana looking cute as always

The Babe...aww!!!

Kim, Heather, Shanny, Me, Jess and the two Babes checking stuff out...

Sexy Shanny!

The whole posse on the hay ride.....

Awww.....heaven!!

We were dropped off at the corn maze, some of us decided to try our luck in the maze, and some chose to continue with the hay ride...

Heather and Kim in the teepee inside the corn maze....

Dominic, Adriana and Katie in the teepee. Dominic was making a teepee with his hands.

Outside the teepee Heather, John and me....I think we look pretty cool...hee, hee.

A cool "slide" inside the corn maze. Everone had to make weird sounds while sliding down.

Heather looks pretty excited about making it outta there, she even landed nicely on her feet.

Aww...Kim looks cute after her slide down

I can just hear Domini saying "oh man!"

Heather and Kim on the top of "Mt Hood". You could see the whole maze from up there, so we new how to find the exit.

The exit....

My favorite pictures are pictures when nobody knows your snapping the pic. I LOVE this picture of Jess and the Babe.

Our pumpkin wheelbarrow...hey, I've never heard of a Talan pumpkin before...Ok, that was cheesy, but he sure looks cute in there!

Hey, is this gonna cost more?

Ending the day with curly fries. I think it's funny, they all have totally different expressions on their faces. Kim looks like she just can't take it anymore....Heather looks serious about that fry, and I think John is trying to make sure not to use up all the ketchup on one fry.

I saw this pretty sunflower on the way to the car...

What picture post of mine would be complete without a bee on a flower shot....this was near our car.

Leaves and Critters

Yesterday I spent some peaceful time in my backyard just observing. By the time I went outside, the fog had already gone, but it was still chilly out. The crows were "kaaawing", the birds were singing, and a very vocal squirrel in a tree was making his presence known. It is so exciting to see the changing season, and even more exciting to capture it! I still can't get over how many leaves an oak has. We have so many leaves on the ground, and yet I look at the trees and they are still covered.

This was the very loud squirrel in the tree....

As I was typing up this post, I saw this little guy with most of his tail gone. I'm not sure if he is new to the neighborhood, or if he just lost his tail, but I've not seen him before.

Stuff

Thanks for everyones kind words about my cat. It has been pretty hard, but of course it gets better. I just really miss her presence ya know!

Thank the gods it's Wed, not only am I glad it's Wed, but it's also the 15th, and that means final time for taxes for people who filed extensions. It doesn't effect me much, except my mom drives me nutso at this time of year, cause she is getting the last few tax returns out. She runs around like she's lost, I get to listen to her talk to herself constantly, and basically she talks to you like she has no idea what she's saying, cause she has taxes on the brain...hee, hee. So, glad it's almost over.

John and I watched the new Indie movie last night, it was really good. Just like classic Indiana Jones. I got a new Killers CD yesterday, and I love it! I'm so glad I like different styles of music, I definetly don't get bored!

This sunday is finally the day for the pumpkin patch. I will post lots of pictures! I have been fighting a sinus infection the past few days, so I hope it won't get too out of hand, but regardless, I won't miss our family pumpkin day.

My Thursday

I had to take my cat to the vet yesterday....she hasn't been doing well lately. She's been drinking a lot of water and not eating, just laying around. Jess went with me, and when we took her out of her carrier, Jess noticed that her skin was orange. The vet new right away that it was her liver, but not sure what was the main cause. They did some blood work, and I will be hearing back from them today. So, needless to say, that is pretty much been on my mind since yesterday.
Last night I got a call from Jess around 7:30 asking me what my plans for the night were. I went over to watch the Babe because Nick wasn't feeling well at all so Jess took him to the emergency room. The Babe was in bed when I got there, so I cozied up on the couch planned my meals for next week and made my shopping list. I then watched Survivor, and John had to call me a few times (we watch it together, it's our weekly thing) to talk about what was going on. After that I watched some of my CSI NY that I brought over. Jess did keep me informed with updates every hour or so. At 10:30 the Babe woke up SCREAMING. Jess called right when I took her out of the crib, and she was like "oh, what's going on". I told her to call me back, so I changed the Babe and got her some milk, she finally calmed down and I put her back down. I don't think she was really awake. Jess called back and said that doesn't happen too often, and gave me another Nick update.
They got home about 12:00 am, and Nick was really drugged out! He looked like he was totally lost and had this vacant look on his face. They ran tons of tests, but turns out it was just some stomach thing. Jess couldn't remember the exact name, dang her, cause I like to look stuff up on the Internet...lol.
Anyways, that was my Thursday. I have to work this afternoon, but my main thing is just waiting to hear back from the vet.

Books, Books, Books

Today I went to Borders to spend my 5.00 borders bucks coupon with another 30% off. I am really getting back into reading again, yay, so I was able to get 3 Dragonlance books to add to my collection.

  1. Amber and Iron

  2. Blades of the Tiger

  3. The Measure and the Truth

I collect and read Dragonlance books, and I updated my list today, I still need 59 more books....that's current published books. Several of them I will need to find on amazon and some I will have to search used bookstores for, but I have been slacking on my collection the past few years, so I will need to do some catching up. I have 91 books right now in my collection....wow, that's a lot of freakin books! I love my Dragonlance books though, and sometimes just for fun I organize them in different ways, ya know, just so I can look at all my covers and things. So, my Christmas list will be filled with book requests and of course my Charmed dvd series.

My Saturday

This morning was another productive morning, after eating breakfast, I started right in on doing some cleaning and laundry. Then, I called Jess to see if she wanted to go to the park to take some fall pictures, and she said yes. I got an extra treat, because the Babe came along too. After the park, we stopped at Lifesource and they had my yummy dark chocolate in a bag for Halloween, so I had to get some, really, I HAD to! I also got some Rising Moon Vegan Buternut Squash Ravioli (say that 10 times fast) to make for dinner tonight, double yum! Of course, I had to make me an apple crumble pie to eat for dessert afterwards. I also loaded some pics from a walk we took last week around the neighborhood (see walking post below). So, walking at the park, spending time with Jess and the Babe, great food, chocolate a yummy dessert, what a perfect Saturday, and it's not even over yet!

I can't resist taking pictures of clover......

Jess and the Babe were doing squats, I'm not really sure why, but I guess they wanted to feel the burn!

I saw these leaves, and it reminded me of butterfly wings....

Ahhh, leaves and the Babe together.....

How cute is this....

The geese were very vocal
She passed out towards the end, she shouldn't have done those squats......
