Pumpkin Fun

Korissa loves going for rides in wagons.....

She picked out her own "baby" pumpkin......

I was looking at the camera, but I think she found herself in pumpkin heaven, and didn't know how to take it all in....

Tractor riding. Well, she just sat there really, but it was a cute picture....

She loved petting the animals. This cute little guy even licked her.....
Ok, so when it was time to carve, she opened up my kitchen drawer that has all the towels in it, and decided she needed to wear a pot holder. I thought it was odd, but who am I to say she can't wear a pot holder to carve a pumpkin.....

Scooping out the pumpkin guts....
By the look on her face, she didn't like it much....

My pumpkins usually look the same every year, nope, I'm not very original, but at least I'm consistent....

My yummy cookies. I used my new vegan sugar cookie recipe, and they were delish.....

This Weeks Randoms

Well, this week I have been mostly sick, so I haven't done too much of anything. My kitchen is a mess, but don't worry, I won't post a picture of it. I've been just kicking back on the couch, and after John goes to bed after taking his Nyquil, just reading, and then going to bed early myself. I'm feeling much better today, but still not 100%.....

  • Watching: CSI NY on DVD with John. I only have a few episodes left, and then it won't be until next year before I watch anymore :(
  • Movie I really enjoyed this week: Ok, I am going to admit this to the whole world.....Hannah Montana the movie. It was really cute. Sometimes I like watching the Disney channel, and have seen several episodes this week, and was like "hey, I can rent that with my dish on demand", so, I did.
  • I finished reading The Secret, no, not that Secret book. This one is by Beverly Lewis, she writes Amish fiction, and I love her writing. After reading one of her books though, I say things like "danki" - "ain't so" and such, but that's ok, my hubby has no idea what I'm talking about most of the time anyways.
  • I started reading A Voice in the Wind by Francine Rivers. Oh my, I cannot say enough about this book. I can hardly put it down. It's the first in a trilogy. It's about a Jewish slave in Rome. I know I'm getting ahead of myself, but this just might be my favorite book I've ever read, and I've read A LOT of books.
  • I discovered some yummy snacks at Lifesource today. They are delish!! They're called Sticks & Twigs, I bought the chipotle tomato kind.
  • This Wknd I'm looking forward to cookie baking with Jess, and watching all the Scream movies, then on Sunday I'm going to take the Babe to EZ Orchards. I don't have my pumpkin yet, and it's almost Halloween!

Yep, this would be Hannah Montana......

Those yummy snacks I discovered today.....

The book I'm reading that I can't put down.....

Oh No!

Starting to feel a bit under the weather lately (ok, what exactly does that saying mean, and where did it come from? Because of weather changes or something....hmmmm). Sore throat, nose feeling a bit stuffed up, but not too bad yet. Looks like I must bring out the tea and the neti pot. John isn't feeling well either. I know I'm a big baby when I'm sick, but we all know how the hubbys can be, hence the Oh No! title of this post.

Pumpkins from the garden

I wasn't there for the picking of pumpkins from the garden, but I made sure that John took the camera. I must say, that he actually took some nice photos......

Brittany, cute pic of her!

This is my favorite picture of Korissa

Great Uncle David with Korissa and Treasure

Jen, Treasure, Sharon and Jack. Looks like Jack has a big smile on his face, probably from watching all of his grandkids pick out pumpkins :)

It looks like Ethan is getting ready to pet this tomato

Great Uncle David and Korissa

I love this picture of Ethan, my favorite

Lisa, Jeremy, Sharon, Brit, Dave, and Babe. Oh, and I see Treasure hiding in there too.

Catch and Release Part 2

When I came back to work after lunch yesterday. A BIG surprise was awaiting me on my chair. Remember my successful catch and release mission several weeks back? Well, this post is a bit different, in the fact that you NEVER want to attempt a catch and realease of this kind of spider. For one thing, what tools would you use? Two, you would probably drop dead upon seeing this spider, and nothing else would matter anyways. I'm warning you again, do not attempt a catch and release, run for your life while praying you will make it out alive.........

Ha, ha. Thats a BIG freakin spider huh? Jessica being the funny girl she is left that on my chair. She decorated the office yesterday for Halloween, and thought it would be amusing. She also left the note.

DVD watching wknd

Saturday Jessica invited us over for dinner and a movie. Well, John didn't go, but I did. I won't pass up movie watching with the fam.....

My Life in Ruins was a really cute movie. Oh, and she had great shoes and style!

Year One was sooooo funny. Yes, it had some pretty over the top humor, but I think we missed quite a few lines from laughing so hard. I think people either love this movie or hate it.

I had planned on watching the Orphanage saturday night by myself (Jess let me borrow it), but that was before the invite to her house. I decided to watch it last night before our Desperate Housewives viewing. This movie was really creepy. It wasn't gross or anything like that. Just a good haunting movie. It had English Subtitles, but the movie was so good, you hardly noticed you had to read it. Would definetly recommend this to you scarey movie lovers. This is on my to buy list.

Grumpy went to the park with the Babe

Sunday we decided to go to the park again. This time I made John go. He really hates going to the park, but I made Korissa go ask him, yes, I'm very tricky. So, we headed out. Korissa was wearing her new cute coat from daddy and mommy. It was so pretty, the leaves were all over the ground, and I got to walk longer because grumpy, wait, I mean John was with us, because it's too dangerous by ourselves. At one point, I had to tease the Grump by stopping, breathing in deeply then saying "smell that? That's what nature smells like." I was thinking that the trail we were following would eventually circle back around, but it didn't, it just kept going and going. We turned around when we reached a pumpkin patch (that was right after Grumpy stepped in dog doo). I think John did have fun, because how could you not enjoy watching Korissa be a total cutie!

This was at the beginning of our walk. Korissa was thirsty already.....

Ok, so I kept hiding behind really small trees, and I think from Korissas view, she must have thought I was kissing the trees. She is NOT a tree hugger, she is a tree kisser.....awwww......

She found another stick to rake with, it was a bit thin and crooked, but it did the job.....

Walking back.....

Celebration

This week, Madonnas album Celebration was released. I of course being a huge Madonna fan, must have this CD. Just thinking about it, takes me back a bit.......

Like a Virgin.....this was my very first Madonna cassette I bought. I don't think I bought her first cassette until after buying Like a Virgin. Like a Virgin started my Madonna Wannabe phase (yes, back in the 80's there was a name for people like me). I had the earings, the many bracelets, the clothes, the gloves (which I still have in my cedar chest), oh and I also drew on the mole with eyeliner. I remember going to a High School football game, and little kids actually coming up to me calling me Madonna. I did wear some pretty revealing clothes back then, my favorite was a pink satiny shirt, that I wore as a freakin dress.

I was so excited to go see Desperatly Seeking Susan. Can you believe that my mom actually went with me.? I remember the scene where Madonna was in a bathroom drying her pits with the hand dryer, and some girls behind me saying how gross and disgusting she was. I remember turning around and glaring at them. That was so uncalled for, not to mention, why were they there? Uh, jealous much?

The True Blue phase. I actually cut my very loooooong hair, and colored it to match this picture. My best friend Marsha dyed it. I do believe the first time came out on the pinkish side, so we had to do it twice. It still never was platinum blonde though. She lived in Washington, and when I came back to Oregon, my mom picked me up at the train station. I didn't tell her what I did to my hair. She hated black finger nail polish, so I wasn't going to say anything about dying my hair. I was standing right in front of her at the station, and she was looking all around for me. I said "mom, I'm right in front of you". She said, "what did you do to your hair". Wasn't very pleasant I must say. It was a nightmare growing out that cut, but I never stopped coloring my hair every color possible. Except now of course.

This has always been my very favorite Madonna picture. I can't remember what magazine it was from, Life maybe, but I kept it in a frame forever. I'm thinking I might still have it in my cedar chest, I will have to check.
LOVED the movie Truth or Dare. I do believe my brother in law David actually went with me to see the movie.

I'm off to purchase this CD.......
