Friday Park Day

Friday I went to Minto-Brown Park and this time took a different path. I saw a Gret Blue Herron, a frog, a chipmunk, a squirrel, several birds and ducks. It was so relaxing, I didn't want to leave. Oh, and I finally got a picture of a dragonfly.

Backyard Raptors

Today I saw a Scrub Jay trying to get the peanuts out of the squirrel feeder. He at first kept hitting the glass container with his beak. I tried to get a picture of this, but he saw me, and jumped up onto the fence. He started squawking pretty loudly at me, and then before I knew it, there were all of his friends in the oak, squawking at me too. It reminded me of the raptors in Jurassic Park, although of course I didn't die or anything like that, it was just pretty interesting.

Backyard Day....

So today I saw a squirrel eating at the peanut feeder, and then realized it couldn't leave. It was having a really hard time, and then it just gave up and hung out in the feeder. Well, of course I know that squirrels don't do this, as soon as I walk into the backyard they dart away. I think his front paw wasn't working right. My dog wanted out back really bad, but I knew it was so he could chase the squirrel, I didn't want to scare the poor thing to death, so I slowly walked up to the feeder and then he realized he better get out of there, better me than the dog aproaching the feeder. So, he struggled a while and finally got up on the fence, but then he had to jump trees. I watched him for quite a while, poor guy, struggling through this. He finally got over to the neighbors oak, but he could only come down. Poor thing.
Our mice are still out there, of course, they have such a wonderful food supply, why would they leave. I think we are going to get mice traps, and then release them into a field somewhere. Theres a huge field at Minto Brown, and on my last visit there I saw a mouse. Going to have to do it soon, before they decide to move into our house. Acorns are dropping from the oak, and a few leaves. It's so fun to watch the seasons change.

Baby sick day....

So, today I get to spend an xtra day with the babe since she can't go to daycare. I got robbed from my monday babe day, cause her mommy had to come home and take care of her cause she wasn't in the most pleasant of moods. Here she is wanting me to pick her up so she can watch me post about the full moon, but really she wanted to smack the keyboard a few times:

Full Moon

Saturday night was a full moon, loving full moons, I spent part of my evening in my backyard. I got an extra bonus with a thunder storm, which was quite awesome. I must have stood in my backyard for almost an hour just enjoying it, and enjoying a slight rain shower as well. I took a few pics of the moon through my oak tree:

I am in love!!!

So today I was craving something sweet. I'm really not suppose to have cane sugar, but sometimes, well, I just can't help it....specially since I have been PMSing for over a month now, I mean come on right!? Went to the store and thought, well, maybe chips would do the trick, something crunchy, maybe it's not sugar I'm craving after all. So, I browse the chip aisle, and then I see it....love at first sight....Pirates Booty with caramel. Got back to the office, ripped that bag open, and I must say, I am now in love with something other than chocolate. Not that I will ever leave chocolate, nope, I will just be a two timer....ate almost the whole bag they were so good! It says it right on the bag too: 'Once you try this incredible snack you'll be hooked'. Dang, now one more thing to tempt me at the store!

Godzilla vs. Tokyo

Jess brought the babe over today for a bit, and it was like Godzilla vs. Tokyo. My living room was wiped out in a minute or less, I should have taken a picture of it, but I got the babe being innocent, but if you look closely, oh yes, you can see her shifty eyes...planning the attack (not my grandbaby, no way). Aargh, she's getting soooo big!!

The innocent babe....trying to distract us with her charm (shhh, it works everytime)

And, she goes in for the first attack, it was over quickly.....

Part 2 Park at the river....

The bee and the fish.....So, my river adventure was pretty exciting. I sat for a while trying to get some close ups of the little fish that were swimming in the river, but they just wouldn't hold still for a photo. It was so peaceful. There were a lot of birds catching bugs, and fish jumping. I moved down river for a bit, and noticed a bee by the water on some rocks. I sat there for a while taking pictures, and all of a sudden I noticed a dead fish right next to me. So, not being morbid or anything, just trying to capture the moment, I decide to take a picture, cause it wasn't like all rotten or anything. I moved a rock that was on its head, and noticed that it twitched. I realized, it wasn't dead, it was still alive, so I put it back in the water. It was pretty cool! A boat then went by, and caused some waves, so the fish swam off, but the bee hung on for dear life!

How peaceful

Part 1: A day at the park

Jessica and I had plans to go to the library and a picnic with the kids today. Well, the kids didn't get to come down this wknd, so I decided I would still go. I packed a lunch, and my camera and headed off about 10:30 this morning. There were a lot of people there, but it is such a big park, I hardly ran into anyone at all. I walked a while, and decided to go down to the river to just sit and watch things (see part part 2 post for my river adventure). After quite a while at the river, I journeyed back up top and found a ton of blackberry bushes around, and these yellow flowers. It was really exciting, because there were honey bees all over the place, so I took many pictures and just watched them gathering nectar. I then went to the library, checked out a bunch of books: Polar Bears, Herb Gardens, Birds, Paul McCartney bio, and a Scrapbooking for Dummies for Jess. After that, I went to Bush Park for my lunch. It was quite an experience and I had so much fun.

Lord of the Rings Quiz

I am most like......

You have strong convictions and you stick to them. Although you are more of a recluse, you are extremely loyal to the few friends that you have. You are very serious about things, but you like having fun. Fame and fortune mean little to you, and you aren't concerned with being popular. Good for you!

Faeriesworlds and then some...

Well yesterday Faeriesworlds day arrived. I went over to Jessicas around 9 to get ready. The night before she made us headpieces to wear. We walked back to my house to wait for Ali, but we had to wear our decos on our head, and got quite a few stares on the way. While waiting for Ali, we took a few pre Faeriesworld pics....

Have you ever seen a cuter fae babe?

We arrived at Faeriesworld after a few turnarounds from misreading the map...and were met with a lot of interesting faery folk....a disco tech faery man, a faery in hello kitty undies, and a green faery man with well, he was wearing a very tight outfit, leaving nothing to the imagination. I wish I would have taken more pics there (to see more pictures, see Jessicas blog), but below is a picture of Ali, Amber and Serra.

I had some yummy noodles and strawberry lemonade, Jess had pizza, and the other girls lived on the wild side and ordered a drink called faery nectar, which none of them liked, but they tried it, so thats all that counts. We had a lot of fun. Amy Brown was there, and she even signed two pictures that I bought. I found a new artist that I just love, she colored her paper with tea and coffee, so it was very original. Amber is allergic to hemp, and well, being faeriesworld, there of course were hemp bags and things. Well, they were sooo pretty that she aparently didn't think that they might be hemp, so, she touched, only for a few seconds until I told her "no, don't touch it"...and well, her hands got burned and swollen, but she still had a good time. The baby got lots of stares in her cute faery wings, and there was even a matching faery baby with the same wings. It was a lot of fun.
When we came home, we dropped off Jess, and the girls came back to my place and we talked till 1:30 in the morning. Needless to say, I feel as though I have a hangover and didn't even drink, thats way past my bedtime. It was a great day though!
I bought this faery clock, I hung it above Grandma Hassings picture...

This is the picture of the coffee and tea paper, it's one of my favorites now:
