I went into the bathroom to brush my teeth and found the biggest freakin spider I have ever seen in my house. I of course went to get the proper catch and release tools (and was very lucky it waited for me to do so), but I decided on a plastic magic bullet cup instead of glass because I have never attempted a catch and release on this size of spider, ever. I didn't want to freak out and throw the glass so I chose the plastic one. It's been a long time since I have ever been freaked out by a spider, I even did the heavy breathing, I thought I was a pro at this catch and release business. Oh well, I handled it the best I could. After the catch, I held it up for examination to see if I could identify it before releasing it, since it was so big. John kept saying "get that thing out of here, you know how I feel about those things. If you are going to release it, then get it out of here". So, I went out to release it, and my usual release is to just let it go by putting it on the ground and tapping the cup. Well, I went out to do that and realized there was no light outside since our bulbs all burnt out. So I did a light toss and didn't pick the cup back up until John put new bulbs in. But, when he did put new bulbs in, he discovered a wasps nest right next to the light, so that was interesting. Oh ya, back to the identification part, I didn't do the proper identification because I had to get it out of the house pronto, as John doesn't share my interest in spiders. But, afterwards I did some research and I'm pretty sure it was a Giant House Spider.
That's Johns hand behind the cup, oh and my Natural Grocers free bag of almonds coupon was used in this mission, I was wondering where that went. |
